DO I HAVE A VOCATION

Everyone has a vocation.  A vocation is God calling us to a way of life (marriage, single life, religious life, priesthood, deaconate, etc).  In a secondary way, many people see their  work as a vocation.  The question here is:  Do I have a vocation to monastic life, priesthood, or to another way of life in the Church.

Here are a few signs that I might have a religious vocation.

· I want to serve God in a special way

· I want a life of prayer and service

· I want to be a member of a community and have the support of others

· I have thought about being a brother or priest

What can I do to begin answering my questions?

1. Seek information from monasteries or other religious communities.  Search using words such as ‘monastic vocation’, ‘monastic information’, ‘vocations’, etc.

2. Plan to visit a monastery.  Email, call or write to a vocation director and schedule a visit.

3. Pray daily for guidance

4. Receive the sacraments regularly

5. Seek to live a Christ-like life

Each month at this site we will explore with you other aspects of discerning a vocation.  For now, visit our vocation page at this link.
